The Sunday roast is the meal the English keep for the people they care about. A joint of meat, potatoes roasted in the oven alongside it, vegetables from the garden or the local market, gravy made in the same pan, and a pudding afterwards.
It is served in the family dining room, at the family table, with the host family eating with you. This is not a restaurant sitting with a British theme. It is an evening in someone’s home.
